Surrendering Yourself to God

Have you ever seen during a praise and worship service anyone ever lift their hands up high, as if they were reaching for something? Maybe you are an individual that finds this awkward or weird to some extent? I know that when I was younger and I first saw that I felt like it was a little awkward myself. That is until I really began to understand what that meant. There was a praise and worship seminar at Rose of Sharon Baptist Church not too long ago where we were shown the value of surrendering ourselves to God. The hands lifted up high is really just saying "Lord I love you, I'm giving up everything that I have and surrendering myself to you. I'm going to leave all my troubles behind and find you Lord, and I will sing for joy for all of the things that you have given me." Some scriptures I think are relevant to this subject are:

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name. Psalms 100:4

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary
and praise the LORD. Psalms 134:2

The LORD is my light and my salvation—
whom shall I fear?
The LORD is the stronghold of my life—
of whom shall I be afraid? Psalms 27:1

Praise the LORD with the harp;
make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre. Psalms 33:2

The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
My heart leaps for joy
and I will give thanks to him in song. Psalms 28:7

Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior Psalms: 42:5

In God we make our boast all day long,
and we will praise your name forever.
Selah Psalms: 44:8

May my prayer be set before you like incense;
may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. Psalms 141:2

I just encourage everyone including myself to try and put behind you what everyone will think about you, if you feel that intimate relationship with God when you sing to him, surrender yourself to him.
